Firefighter

Green River Fire and Rescue is now accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Senior Firefighter.  Please see the following requirements for eligibility to apply for a position:

Minimum Qualifications 

• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must pass drug test
• Resident of the Green River Fire District
• Must be able to obtain 36 hours of in-house training per yer

Physical Requirements 

• Applicants must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following physical functions pertaining to the position of a  Volunteer Firefighter:
• Repetitive Motions
• Climbing
• Crawling
• Reaching
• Standing
• Pushing
• Pulling
• Lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Grasping
• Feeling
• Communicating 
• Must possess knowledge and ability of how to perform the operations of using tools, equipment, and apparatus.
• Must work to achieve Fire Fighter Level II with in 2 years of start date.

We also except Junior Firefighter's at the age of 15 with a parent or guardians consent.
